Hope & New Life began in 1994 when a professor at Purdue University, Richard Stroshine, developed a heart to offer hope to those struggling with homosexual attractions. He gathered a few friends with a common vision and began praying. As they prayed, the ministry of Hope& New Life formed. Initially, the ministry offered resources and encouragement to those in the West Lafayette, Indiana, area. But there was an increasing desire to offer more.
In 1998, Hope & New Life hired its first executive director after obtaining non-profit status. The vision expanded to offer support groups and discipleship to those struggling to overcome same-sex attractions. Referrals continued to pour in from those struggling as well, as from family and friends of loved ones living as homosexuals. The vision of the ministry expanded to include a broader focus of sexual brokenness, and outreach efforts stretched across the entire state of Indiana.
In 2007, Hope & New Life underwent a leadership change and prayerfully decided to focus its efforts on the singular effort of becoming an education and equipping arm that seeks to aid the Church in effectively ministering to sexual strugglers. Here are a few of the over 110 opportunities Hope & New Life has had to teach and equip the Church and general public:
